Why Recycle Ink Cartridges

Millions of empty ink cartridges are thrown away each year worldwide. In each cartridges there are residuals of inks and other components. This makes it even more important to recycle ink cartridges. Recently manufacturers such as HP and Lexmark have embarked on a strategy where there are cartridges that are not possible to be recylced. For e.g.

Lexmark No 4, No 5, Lexmark 14, Lexmark 15, Lexmark 23, Lexmark 24, Lexmark 28, Lexmark 29, Lexmark 36 and Lexmark 37 are impossible to recycle. As when the cartridges start to run low printer starts to burn some parts of electronic chip on the printhead. This makes it completely useless. And even by you sending this Lexmark Empty Ink Cartridges to Lexmark themselves, they can’t recycle too. We are just adding to the burden on our planet.

HP has been clever in sense, they have reduced the amount of ink they provide you in their ink cartridges. Cartrdiges such as HP300 or HP350 Original Ink Cartridges might look cheap but they have reduced the content of ink in the cartridges. They provide about 3.5-5.5ml of ink in the ink cartridges compared to 38ml in the HP78 colour cartridges.
